Sponsor a Classroom in Rural South Africa

Through Ubuntu Global Connections (a US based non-profit), a monthly donation of $35 will sponsor a classroom of your choice at Zithulele Independent School. Zithulele is a small, rural South African community with few resources and many challenges. Unemployment in the area is 77% and just 9% of households have access to electricity. Public elementary schools also lack basic resources with classrooms of up to 70 students for one teacher. Zithulele Independent School offers children an alternative to these public schools by providing a unique opportunity to receive a high-quality, bilingual education and a path to a better future.

How the Ubuntu Buddies Program Works

  2. Receive Updates: Get to know the school and your sponsored class through a fact sheet and biannual video updates from the class.
  3. Encourage the Students: If you choose, you can write encouraging emails to the class, which will be shared by the teachers.
